2 of the boys join me in wishing you a great 2013.
Here is the first article I’m writing for “Indiana Rider” magazine. Hope you like it.
New Year, new magazine, new columnist. Indiana Rider is an exciting new venture by a group of people not afraid to take a chance. Magazine publishing is a tricky business and I applaud those in charge. Pitfalls lurk around every corner; potholes threaten to upset the delicate balance of a new venture, like having me write a column.
I’ve written a lot of jokes, comedy bits, commercials, reports and even a 6 hour radio broadcast called the “Fantasy 500”, but never a column. Though I have to admit 2013 is destined to be a great year for me and I’ll explain why. Years ending in “3” has always seen me begin new endeavors or experience accomplishment.
1963-Went in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 1st time beginning a lifelong love affair
1973-Graduated from Northwest High School. Just barely.
1983-Started doing stand-up comedy full time
1993-Opened One-Liners Comedy Club in Greenwood, IN
2003-Was asked to join the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network as a color commentator.
2013-? The world is my Oyster
So what have I been up to? Well, not long ago I had three full time jobs.
1) Traveling with the Radio Network broadcasting the IndyCar series Races
2) Running One-Liners/Wilson’s Bar & Restaurant
3) Doing the afternoon drive slot on WIBC
Then in June of 2008 after 15 ½ years we decided enough of the bar/nightclub business and closed One-Liners.
2 months later Wally Leavitt, the IMS Radio Network Director came to me and said he had to cut someone from the traveling team, they wanted cutbacks. “Well cut me” I volunteered. After all I still have a full time job and don’t depend on the money like the rest of the guys so Wally took me out. Then 2 months after that I got fired at WIBC! So, I became a career consultant. Passing along my knowledge and history of good choices to the younger generation.
Actually I’m happy to be a part of Indiana Rider and hope you’ll join me here in the coming issues. You can also catch me at http://www.speedwaydaily.com

Fr Sid Sidor passed this morning at the age of 84. He didn’t become a priest till he was 76. When most people were retiring he began what is one of the most difficult ways a person can live their life. Sharing the problems of others and spreading Gods word.
He would call me and leave a message just to remind me that God loved me and he was praying for me. Always there with an encouraging word or book that would help me be a better person. So happy that he no longer suffers and that God brought him into my life.
